At First Baptist Church, Granite Falls, Minn., we studied the Old Testament in survey fashion. We have worked our way through the heavy lifting, that is the Pentateuch, and then moved on to the Prophets. We followed the order of the Hebrew Scriptures and not the English versions. Because we moved quickly through the Old Testament books, these notes are quite brief and act as an aid to memory more than anything else. Also, we covered about one book per week.
As references for Sunday School, I used these three books primarily:
Paul R. House & Eric Mitchell. Old Testament Survey. B & H, 2007.
Gleason L. Archer. A Survey of Old Testament Introduction. Moody, 1994.
John F. Walvoord & Roy B. Zuck, eds. The Bible Knowledge Commentary. Victor Books, 1985.
All Scripture quotations are taken from the English Standard Version, unless otherwise noted.
